Facts about Invisalign®

Invisalign® treatment process

Once you have scheduled an appointment with us, our doctor and Invisalign® user will have a detailed consultation with you. During this initial consultation, the degree of tooth misalignment will be assessed and the doctor will discuss with you whether Invisalign® is the right option for your needs. We take digital 3D scans of your teeth using an intraoral scanner. Based on the information gathered, our dentist will draw up a treatment plan in consultation with you. This plan specifies the expected course of tooth correction and the number of aligners we will use during treatment.

Once the treatment plan has been determined, the custom-made aligners are manufactured by Invisalign® itself. Each aligner is shaped slightly differently to gradually move the teeth into the desired position. The aligners are then adjusted to the gum line by laser to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. During the treatment process, regular check-ups are scheduled every 6 to 8 weeks, where our dentist and Invisalign® practitioner will examine your teeth and give you the next set of aligners.

Once the treatment is complete, our doctor will evaluate the result with you to ensure that it meets your expectations. You will then receive a retainer to guarantee your new and beautiful smile in the long term.

Cases that can be treated with Invisalign®

Like any other medical treatment, Invisalign® has a certain scope in terms of treatable cases. We examine your teeth and identify the nature of your dental problem in order to offer you a suitable treatment method. We can straighten the following malocclusions with Invisalign in particular:

• Crowding/gap
• Overbite/underbite/crossbite
• Open bite
• General straightening

Cost coverage by health insurance

Invisalign treatment is highly recommended in most cases due to the sophisticated technology and high-quality material. The costs incurred depend heavily on the degree of misalignment of the teeth. The more displaced the teeth, the more sets of aligners and check-ups are necessary. Treatment with transparent aligners is not yet covered by the public health insurance system. Private supplementary dental insurance can cover at least part of the treatment. It would therefore make sense to find out about private supplementary dental insurance well in advance of such treatment. Depending on the severity of the misaligned teeth, private health insurance will cover part or all of the treatment costs.
